I’ve loved the word idiosyncratic long before I thought about opening a practice. It has many meanings - distinctive, individual, quirky - all words that I resonate with, as without these things, we have nothing.

I’ve written all about this here! It’s the first post on 1/23/25 - keep scrolling!

I also hate needles and decided on this for a career - which is saying something. If you look up a picture of an acupuncture needle you’ll see that the size almost forces you to disregard the term “needle”. That being said, some spots i.e. fingers, toes, knees, and face may be more sensitive. Even with these areas, you’ll only feel a little prick and then either nothing else, or a heavy or distended feeling. These are fabulous things to feel. I’m happy to try a needle on myself in front of you or try a tester on you before going into a full treatment. Cupping, gua sha, and herbs are also here for you.

The most important task is getting to know you. Acupuncture and the nervous system are best friends, so learning something about how yours may respond to everyday stressors can help form a successful treatment. At the end of the day, you drive your healing and I’m willing to go as deep, or not, as you’d like. I’m not a licensed therapist but I like to treat the initial appointment as something kind of like that.

I believe this is a prerequisite for anyone who carries a license in a healthcare or “healing” modality, so, YES. This medicine can be especially healing for the many communities that deal with fear on a consistent basis. You are always welcome here.
Who can benefit from
The Idiosyncratic Needle, specifically?
Acupuncture is not for an island of wellness recluses. It’s a body of millennia-long wisdom. Some may conflate this wisdom with the wellness elite and not with the everyday person. I, myself, am an everyday person who happens to practice this medicine.
If you want to feel at home in your body, free of pain or discomfort, even when society makes it very hard, this medicine is for you. The Idiosyncratic Needle is more specifically for you if, in showing up for your health, conforming to a specific way of being is unappealing. The very best that you have to offer the world comes from your own authenticity. The world we live in is very “copy & paste” information overload right now. You won’t get that here. What you will get is a nervous system reset from the comfort of your own home or hotel - saving you precious life force to focus on things that make you, you.
Each person should feel welcomed to explore the benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine and its many modalities. There are guidelines that can help inform a healthful life but there needs to be room for humanness, mistakes, and a dark sense of humor. Life can and should be vibrant.
