Cosmetic Acupuncture

  • AKA facial acupuncture, is a less invasive way to relax and brighten the face while reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

Ideal blood flow is absolutely necessary for the skin to maintain proper elasticity, tone, and brightness. Acupuncture promotes muscle relaxation, blood flow, & fibroblast concentration and production. You can also say goodbye to puffiness.

This is done without injecting any botulinum toxin or fillers into the skin. The beauty of this is that you’re giving your face, neck, and décolleté what they need to maintain their long-term health. Facial acupuncture is best done in 10-12 sessions over 5-6 weeks and then can be maintained with bi-monthly or monthly treatments.

  • Of course, it’s always better to catch fine lines or dullness as early as possible - mid to late 20s, but mature skin is by no means too far gone. Considering that cosmetic acupuncture is increasing blood flow and local collagen & anti-inflammatory mediator production (plus reducing puffiness!), any skin, age 21+, can see benefits.

  • This is a general guideline but this process is completely tailored to you so this is not set in stone. This is purely so you can plan your time.

    Talking/catch-up on what’s working and what’s not: 5-10mins

*Face, neck, and décolleté muscle relaxation: 10min

    Needle retention time: 35min

    Total: 60-75min

*modalities will be discussed and explained in our appointment

  • Just want to try it out? No problem! Single treatments are $400 per session.

However, for optimal results, a package is recommended:

5 treatments: $375 per treatment ($125 in savings*)

10 treatments: $350 per treatment ($500 in savings*)

I understand that you may not have thousands of dollars upfront, so to avoid tying up your cash, 50% of the entire package is due at the time of booking and then the additional 50% of each treatment is due after the treatment is completed.

We can do 1x or 2x a week, depending on your schedule. The appointments in a package do not expire!

*Please see pricing notes in FAQ below. There is absolutely no tipping for any of my services.

  • Heated treatment table.

Discussion on desired outcome and problem areas.

Muscle relaxation to give the needles a perfect canvas to start on.

Acupuncture on trunk and limbs to treat the body as a whole - if you have an acute issue that day, such as constipation, for example, I can add points for that.

No needle limit - the best treatment is a mix of your wants/needs and my recommendations.

Access to the world’s best treatment playlist.

There are a multitude of ways to perform a successful treatment. I use a combination of techniques dependent on facial structure, severity, and “problem” areas.

  • This patient had daily canker sores for 10 months. These started after a stressful event and illness in this person’s life.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Considering the amount of competition here, I’d ask myself the same thing. There are numerous ways to accomplish results with this medicine. There are also numerous people who do it well. That being said, in my opinion, it’s all about resonating with your practitioner. You read my bio and can get a slight feel for how I am as a person. I’ve yet to meet another me so I feel that’s what makes The Idiosyncratic Needle so special. I care first and foremost about forming a true partnership in your healing. I genuinely find this practice fun and enjoy my time doing it. I’m always researching to make my practice that much better. I have “durations” laid out for my treatments not to sprint out at the hour, but simply to guide us. This medicine is best understood in receiving it. I’d like for you to understand it as much as you’d like. There is endless BS in the world. This isn’t that.

    ◦ I’m not trying to fight Western medicine. I want to work within your ecosystem to get your vibrancy back.

    ◦ Longer needle retention time. I like to retain needles for at least 30 minutes unless you are extra “deficient,” and it would be a disservice to your health.

    ◦ All “add-ons” are included. Cupping, gua sha, e-stim, moxa.

    ◦ No movement is needed on your end, except to open the door. This means time and energy are saved - two things that are NOT easy to come by these days.

    ◦ I have provided services to a wide range of patients from 1yo to 90yo. Besides providing services in a clinic setting, I have also treated in a hospital setting at the Children’s Hospital of OC. Additionally, I have observed all ages in their treatment from a more traditional perspective at China Medical University in Taiwan.

  • Definitely. Please remember that these prices are for in-home treatments. Anyone who drives in Los Angeles understands how much time and stress is tied to getting somewhere on time and finding parking. This service is saving you that brain space - we’ve all driven on La Cienega.

A 60-90min treatment is more like 2-3+ hours with traveling and set up time. This allows me to spend ample time with patients, which I love, but is also why pricing must account for these facts.

Also, there is NO tipping your acupuncturist. This is a medical service - although it feels just as good if not better than your favorite spa experience. Plus, as stated in the previous FAQ, all add-on’s are included.

Why is in-home treatment better? Maybe you just got home from work and now have to turn around in 45mins to get to your appointment. Or maybe it doesn’t make sense to go all the way home before an appointment so you get there 30mins early and try to waste time in your car. Maybe you work from home and the thought of getting in your car and leaving for the day sounds horrific. There are many benefits to staying put in your safe space and being able to immediately slip into bliss post-treatment. It makes the benefits of treatment that much stronger.

These prices cover a 10 mile radius from West Hollywood. If you live outside of the city of LA and are an hour or more away, that adds additional hours to what I allot for appointments. For this reason, I ask that a fee be paid based on where you live outside of the city. We can work on that together as there are so many different scenarios where this would be the case. Email me at info@theidiosyncraticneedle.com

This is simply to make up for the fact that I lose additional hours and therefore booking capacity. I would love to make it work with you so please do reach out!

*Cosmetic acupuncture note: Cosmetic acupuncture can involve dozens of needles and is an art that takes increased time to administer. I am able to offer discounts on series packages because the first treatment comes with creating a tailored approach for your unique skin needs. After this initial treatment, although we can always change our treatment goals, I have a more clear picture of what we’re trying to accomplish in each treatment moving forward. Therefore, there is slightly less planning involved, even if the needle count is the same or higher.

  • ◦ Card on file

    ◦ Credit or debit card via payment terminal after our appointment. Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, and Google Pay

    ◦ Gift cards through the link provided above

  • For initial appointments and follow-up’s, sure thing!

For cosmetic (facial) acupuncture or telehealth herbal consults, insurance companies won’t consider reimbursement.

Remember to check these things before bothering to send a superbill:

    ◦ Does your plan cover acupuncture at all?

    ◦ Are there coverage limits for acupuncture? Either dollar amount, number of visits, or diagnoses? Some plans only cover acupuncture for low back pain.

    ◦ Will your coverage extend beyond in-network providers? I would be out-of-network.

We’re on the same page that this is excessive, annoying, and time consuming. This is why The Idiosyncratic Needle is a cash-based practice. Insurance companies are not built for quality care and I can’t rest properly knowing that I did a disservice to someone just to fit in as many patients as possible. The aim is your health and healing without being worried about time limits or reimbursement.

  • Yes. I can fill in the gaps of other practitioners or start from the beginning. Labs range in cost from $5 to hundreds.

We can work together to find the efficient and effective balance that works for your budget.

  • Not necessarily. However, if you want to soak in the post-treatment high, you can easily do so and claim that it’s “needed”. I’d love that for you.

  • I have a podcast about this on my Substack if you’re sick of reading! I also have a shorter version as a reel on my Instagram.

Both cosmetic acupuncture and injectables require maintenance. The difference is how often and if it’s a neurotoxin or not.

Cosmetic acupuncture works for you. However many sessions, however early, you put in, you get back plus some. Cosmetic acupuncture, for example, can be thought of as exercise that maintains healthy muscle and therefore a healthy body long-term. Injectables, for example, would be more like a GLP-1 agonist or lipo. Cosmetic acupuncture is less-invasive and promotes health and wrinkle-free longevity.

As discussed above, there is no downtime with cosmetic acupuncture. You can massage the area, bend, exercise, etc. right away after treatment.

I’m not against any beauty-enhancing treatments if they work for you. This is just the treatment that resonates with me and one that I really enjoy performing! If you want to stick to your other beauty-enhancing treatments, you can still book an initial appointment for any other conditions that you may be dealing with.

*If you have had any beauty procedure done recently (within a month) please let me know on your intake form. There is a field for it. I can’t needle a freshly injected face.*

  • Any less than 24-hour notice you are charged 100% of the treatment fee. Due to the amount of time allocated for each patient, I am only able to see a few per day. This is the reason for the 24-hour cancellation policy. That spot, which there are so few of, can now be filled when there is at least 24-hour notice. The more notice I get, the better! It’s also better for your wallet.

I also take time outside of the treatment window to prepare for each appointment and continue to improve each individual treatment plan.

  • I’d love to explore all potential collaborations. If you feel like we could be a good fit, please email me at info@theidiosyncraticneedle.com
